The Fifth Toy Story Film Trailer Pits Woody and Buzz Against a Digital Device

It has been 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story movie was released, launching Pixar as a leading film company and introducing audiences to beloved figures like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.

In 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a glimpse into the plot but keeping fans curious how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Toys

In the teaser shows the young girl — who inherited the toy collection when he left for college — receiving a brand new plaything, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.

Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the toys appear to consider it as a threat coming to replace them, which it probably is.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

An element the teaser doesn't touch on is what Woody is returned with his friends in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a new adventure with Bo Peep (the actress), journeying with a fair and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.

Certainly, Pixar will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him show up in the familiar setting unexpectedly is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And what about Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?

Continuity from the Last Installment

Fortunately, some aspects are continuing from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before setting off for his fresh path was pass his symbol of authority to Jessie (Joan Cusack), entrusting her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser shows the insignia pinned to her outfit.

It is hoped she is remains the key figure among the toys.
