A person who laced sweets with sedative and provided them to minors at a summer camp in the area has admitted sexual offences against two children aged between nine and ten.
Jon Ruben was arrested after eight minors and one adult experienced illness at the facility in July.
The 76-year-old, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, pleaded guilty to a multiple criminal counts when he was present at the courthouse on the end of the week.
Yet, he disputed one of the sexual offences he was accused of, which was concerning a nine-year-old child.
Ruben was remanded in custody prior to a subsequent court date on late November.
'Sweet game'
The legal representative, presenting evidence, described Ruben's offending to the judicial body.
She stated his those affected were disadvantaged youngsters who were participating in a youth camp which he operated.
Ruben conducted a "treat game" with the youngsters, the legal counsel said, in which he would access the sleeping quarters when they were getting ready for bed and tell them to consume candy "rapidly".
She stated to the judge Ruben had conducted this practice with the children "for many years", and children had previously become sick the subsequent day.
She explained Ruben had been capable of justifying this over a long period as the minors being "overstimulated by activities", until his family member had suspicions in recently.
Mrs Prior KC added: "Recently" his stepchild had concerns about the situation, justifiably.
"They decided to investigate in the man's possessions."
The prosecutor said materials including baby oil, Vaseline and injection devices were located, and his family member notified the authorities about his worries.
She said the man went on to engage in the "candy game" with six boys that time - that Saturday - and they were all ill the subsequent day.
"The police had not responded by that stage," she stated further.
The police watchdog, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, previously told that it was examining law enforcement's management of the events.
The prosecutor explained the youngsters were struggling to walk due to their sickness, so Ruben's stepson called the police once more.
She explained the defendant then engaged in the "treat game" in a area of five children.
