Her Royal Highness's Annual Christmas Carol Concert Honours Unsung Heroes

Her Royal Highness has organised her annual festive musical service at the historic Abbey, with guests including members of the royal family, famous faces, and community champions who have helped their communities.

The 1,600 guests will listen to a selection of festive songs, musical performances, and spoken word pieces from stars like Kate Winslet and Chiwetel Ejiofor.

A Theme of Love and Generosity

The focus of the event, held in the candle-lit Abbey on Friday, is compassion and demonstrating care for others.

Attending the event are Jonathan and Anna Cordiner, whose daughter died of a brain cancer, and who founded an organisation, Kayleigh's Wee Stars, to help households where there is a terminally ill child.

"The time, care and compassion you give, often without fanfare or recognition, and without any thought of thanks or praise, make an profound impact to the lives of others," wrote Catherine in a message before the concert.

Carefully Paced Reappearance

The princess has been making her own steady comeback to official duties following her health challenges and treatment, in November making her major oration since 2023, in which she discussed recognising the "selfless, commonly overlooked efforts of carers".

Performance and Potential

Those coming to the Abbey will be entertained by young musicians aided by the Future Talent organisation, co-founded by the former royal to widen access to instrumental training.

Trumpeter Carys Wood, 18, who performs on the trumpet and is from Wales, has been assisted by the trust, with awards contributing to musical instruments, lessons and travel costs - and she said it was "awesome" to be performing at the evening's event.

"Music can be very expensive," she stated. She is now a student at the prestigious music academy, and added that "all people deserve the chance" to cultivate their performance abilities.

A Family Affair

Eliza, Carys's sister who is 11, who is a euphonium player, will also be at the Abbey. "It's unbelievable that I get to perform here in front of so many notable figures," she said.

Among the guests will be people from various age groups.

That will feature nine-year-old Saphia Turner, recipient of a young hero award, who produces drawings and undertakes charity feats to raise money for local food charities.

Yuletide Atmosphere and Acts

The Abbey has been festooned with specially made wreaths, with TV cook Mary Berry and florist Simon Lycett contributing to their design.

Among the musical performers will be recording artist Katie Melua, choristers from Westminster Abbey and a maritime folk band from Cornwall, the group Fisherman's Friends, who said the chance to take part was "a dream come true."

The Together at Christmas carol concert will be aired by television on December 24th.
